DISCIPLESHIP YEAR 2024/25
The Discipleship Year is for those who want to explore a calling to ministry within a church context, develop their leadership skills, and to grow their faith to become more like Jesus
WHAT IS IT?
Feels like family In our weekly sessions you will discover and embrace your identity as loved children of God, learn the values of His Kingdom, and learn to live and lead lives rooted in those values and God’s love.
Empowered by the Spirit The Discipleship Year is for you if you want to explore whether you are called to ministry within a church context and, if you are hungry to learn more about your identity, and calling, and to learn how to expand God’s kingdom wherever you are. All that we do at SPB is centred around enjoying and being formed in the presence of God, so there will be a strong emphasis on worship and prayer framing the programme.
Ambitiously local
The year will be full of opportunities to activate what we are learning by sharing Jesus in various contexts and activities in SE London. To do this, we will be learning the value of courageous faith as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. We’ll be leaving the comfort zone of faith, which will be exhilarating and stretching as you become the person you are meant to be.
Everyday not an event
You won’t just be joining a thriving and busy church community, but a family. To truly be in family (in the Biblical sense) we all have to play our part in the flourishing of the community. Our Discipleship Year will present the opportunity to contribute to the life of the church, particularly on Sundays and in a specified department. This will be a joint decision between you and us, depending on what area of ministry you are keen to grow in.
APPLICATION PROCESS The 2024/25 Discipleship Year starts in September 2024 and ends in May 2025.
Applications are open now. Please email Chris or Sarah stating your interest and we’ll send over an application form and information pack.
Applicants will then be invited to an interview – either in person (in Brockley) or over Zoom if you live far away. If successful, we’ll discuss what might be the best fit in terms of ministry placement and other next steps.

They’ve been a part of St Peter’s since 2018 and have a deep desire to help others heal from their past and to become all they are meant to be. If you’ve got any questions about the Discipleship Year – they are the ones to chat with.
Applications are closed for this year, however more information will be released at the beginning of 2025.
