OUR ECO CHURCH
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We are helping our church explore how we can express collective and individual responses to this context: in our worship and teaching, how we look after and use our buildings, land and resources, how we engage with the local community and global efforts and through our day to day lives.
WHY?
God made the world and loves it (Genesis 1:31), sustaining and caring for it (Psalm 65:9–13; Matthew 10:29; Hebrews 1:3; Colossians 1:16–17)
Our relationship with the natural world matters to God (Genesis 1:26–28; 2:15)
Climate change and nature loss caused by human activity is a reality (IPBES, IPCC) with significant implications for poverty, development, security and wellbeing (UNDP, IIED, UNEP, UN Security Council)
God has a plan for all creation (Colossians 1:19–20), restoring and renewing (Revelation 21 – 22:6) and we can contribute
