Prayer & Fasting
Lent is a time of focused prayer as we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection. As God calls us to unity, we want to unite in prayer and fasting over the next six weeks.
This isn’t for the specially eager or dedicated. This is for everyone. You and us.
We’ve picked six passages in Matthew’s gospel where Jesus prays, or talks about prayer. We’ve provided a short reflection, and suggest how we might want to pray in the light of the passage.
How you can get involved :
Weekly Scriptures: Weekly reflection below every Thursday.
Prayer Board: You will find a prayer board in the main building at church. Please add or take prayer requests at the church throughout the week.
Thursday Fasting & Prayer: Fast from breakfast and lunch - If you’re pregnant, or breastfeeding, or otherwise have medical needs please choose another way to fast. Perhaps stop social media for the day - whatever helps you pray. Whatever you choose to do - or not do - aim to then join the prayer at 5pm.
Join us as we pray together online: Ending our fast with Zoom prayer each Thursday at 5pm for thirty minutes. click here for the zoom link
It’ll be a great time for us as a church, and as we unite together in this, we’re praying that the meaning of Good Friday and Easter will come alive to us all in a new way!
Look forward to praying with you. Lots of love,
Ben and Hanelle
Our prayer board is ready! You will find it in the main church building, ready for you to add your own prayer requests or take one to pray for. We encourage everyone to get involved. Whether you have a personal request or want to lift someone else up in prayer, the board is there for you throughout the week.
